Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of Heaven belongs.
Matthew 19:14
Welcome Friends
Worship is for everyone who longs for God - believers and seekers. Worship is about honoring and praising our Lord and Savior. It is a time when we gather together to experience the presence of the Holy Spirit, and express our joy and gratitude. The power of God's word touches those who are hurting and awakens hope for the hopeless. Whether you prefer traditional or contemporary Worship, we invite you to celebrate the Good News in Jesus Christ!
You will find a warm and friendly welcome at Bashford United Methodist Church. We invite you to join us in a celebration of worship, Christian fellowship, study and service. When you become a part of our exciting journey of faith, you will be encouraged, challenged and rewarded with renewed spirituality.
Worship Services
Sunday — 8:30 am (traditional style)
Bashford United Methodist Church Sunday morning 8:30 am service is a traditional style. This traditional style of worship is a more formal style. The music is led by the organist with traditional United Methodist hymns. Our Chancel Choir and our Bell Choir provide music as a part of this worship service. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of the month. This service includes a traditional liturgy. Although there is a common structure to each service of worship the individual elements of the service are designed to enhance and communicate the central theme and message of the service and therefore change each week. The message and theme of the service are scripturally based. At both of our services, the sermon is the same.
Sunday — 10:45 am (contemporary style)
Bashford United Methodist Church Sunday morning 10:45 am service is a contemporary style. Our contemporary style of worship is a casual service. This service welcomes people to come as you are and therefore encourages attendees to dress casually. The music is led by our Faith Company Singers and Praise Band using more contemporary Christian music. This service has an air of celebration about it. A monthly drama is performed to enhance and assist in communicating the central theme and message of the service. The message and theme of the service are scripturally based. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of the month. At both of our services, the sermon is the same, however it is delivered in a more casual and relaxed style at this service.

Holy Communion —
Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month during both our traditional worship service and our contemporary worship service. In the United Methodist Church we practice open communion. All persons are invited to receive the communion elements. There are no restrictions of membership, denomination, or faith. We understand the Holy Communion to be a symbol of God's loving grace extended to all persons.
Communion at Bashford United Methodist Church is received one of two ways. We receive communion by intinction, which is when you are given a piece of the bread and you dip it lightly into the cup. Sometimes, we receive Communion at the communion rail. If you prefer not to receive Communion, simply remain in your seat during Communion time. If you are unable to come forward, but would like to partake in Communion, inform an usher and they will be happy to inform the pastors so the elements may be brought to you.
Pentecost
Pentecost Sunday, the seventh Sunday after Easter (Sunday, May 23, 2010), is one of the greatest mission festivals of the Christian year. Pentecost commemorates the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles in Jerusalem.
Methodism's founders, John and Charles Wesley, published a small collection of Pentecost poems and hymns that celebrated God's presence and love. "United Methodists, heirs of the Wesleyan witness and zeal, are today servants of God's Spirit in expanding God's love around the earth. . . . as we celebrate the birthday of the Church, as we remember our baptisms, and as we rejoice in the presence of God through the Holy Spirit, let us also commit ourselves to become stronger mission witnesses to God's new-created world of grace and love."
You can find resources for Celebrating Pentecost in the Home at the United Methodist Church website (GBOD.org) by clicking HERE.
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness, come into his presence with singing.
